Spectrum Creatures

May 2023

‘Spectrum Creatures’ is a series of wearable sculptures that explore the intersection of fantasy, abstraction, and identity. Each brooch in the collection takes on a wildly irregular form, echoing the unpredictable beauty of imagined lifeforms—neither animal nor alien, but somewhere in between. Inspired by visual evolution, these forms challenge conventional aesthetics and celebrate difference, eccentricity, and fluid self-expression.

Crafted from sterling silver and iridescent pink holographic plastic, the pieces embody a tension between permanence and ephemerality. The metal frames act as structural skeletons, while the shifting rainbow sheen of the holographic surfaces breathes life into each creature. The plastic reflects and refracts light with every movement, creating an ever-changing spectrum of colors—suggesting that identity, like light, is constantly in flux.

These ‘creatures’ are not meant to be classified but to be felt—playful, mysterious, and a little strange. They are worn close to the heart, not as decoration, but as a silent signal to those who see the world differently. By wearing them, the audience becomes part of a larger ecosystem of expressive individuals, celebrating personal imagination and the beauty of the unconventional.

‘Spectrum Creatures’ invites the viewer to embrace the unknown, to find wonder in the odd, and to let the body become a platform for storytelling through form, texture, and light.
